CoyoCam is a camera that records where each photograph was taken. That makes your location sensitive data, so the app is built to keep it on your iPhone. We do not collect, store or sell any personal data.
Who we are
CoyoCam is published by the CoyoCam team. You can reach us at support at coyocam.com.
In short
| Data | Where it goes | Why |
|---|---|---|
| Photographs and video | Your iPhone; a stamped copy also goes to the Photos library unless you turn that off | They are what you take |
| Location, bearing, altitude | Your iPhone, inside each photograph and its record | The stamp and the exports |
| Coordinates for the address | Apple's geocoding service | To turn a position into a street address |
| Settings, folders, notes | Your iPhone | To remember your choices |
| Anything you share | Wherever you send it | Your decision, through the iOS share sheet |
There is no CoyoCam account, no server of ours and no cloud copy. We cannot see your photographs or your locations.
Location
CoyoCam asks for location “while using the app” and reads it only while the camera or compass is open. It is never used in the background. The position is written into the photograph and the app's own record so the stamp and exports can show it. You can deny access, or turn off Precise Location; the app then records no position, or an approximate one.
Camera and Photos
The camera is used only to take the photographs and video you ask for. Photos library access is add-only: by default a stamped copy of each photograph is added there (Settings → Capture turns it off, and can add the original too). CoyoCam never reads your library.
Apple services
To show an address, the app sends the coordinates of a photograph to Apple's geocoding service, and the map view loads Apple Maps tiles. Apple handles that data under its own privacy policy (apple.com/legal/privacy). No identifier of yours is sent by CoyoCam.
Sharing and exports
Photographs, KMZ, CSV and ZIP files contain the readings you recorded, including coordinates. They leave your iPhone only when you share them, and only to the place you choose.
No analytics, no ads, no tracking
CoyoCam contains no analytics, advertising or tracking code and does not use the advertising identifier. The app is paid once and has no in-app purchases.
If you write to support, we receive your email address and what you send, and use them only to answer you. We delete the conversation when it is no longer needed.
This website
coyocam.com uses no cookies and no analytics. Like any website, the hosting provider (Amazon Web Services) keeps standard access logs for security.
Children
CoyoCam is not directed at children and collects no data from anyone.
Your rights
Everything the app stores is on your iPhone: you can delete any photograph in the app, or all of it by deleting the app. For questions about privacy, or about data you sent us by email, contact support.
Changes
If this policy changes, the new version is published here with a new date.
